An official end to the federal student loan payment pause was codified into law on June 3 along with the debt ceiling agreement through the Fiscal Responsibility Act signed by President Biden. No more extensions can be made, as the official end is 60 days after June 30, 2023. The U.S. Department of Education is determining the details as to when borrowers will be required to make their first payment, following the three-year pause.
